High-level German and Chinese business and government representatives are welcomed in Taizhou, among them the former EU Commissioner Prof. Günter Verheugen. The Vice Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Jörn Beißert, the CEO of Baden-Württemberg International Mr. Tobias Off, the China Director of Germany Trade & Invest Mr. Jonathan Schoo and Chief Representative & Partner of Rödl & Partner Shanghai Mr. Sebastian Wiendieck will address a speech. We are glad to cordially invite you to Taizhou Taizhou has a population of nearly six million people and is located at the East China Sea coast in Zhejiang Province. The city belongs to the Yangtze River Delta, China’s most economically powerful region. 2015 the gross regional product of Taizhou accumulated to 48.7 billion Euros.
Taizhou is one of the market economy pioneers of China. The specific process of active interaction of a municipal government and local private enterprises to facilitate economic growth has been named after the city and is called the Taizhou Model in business science.
The city’s prosperity is based on a strong economic foundation. 39 Taizhou enterprises are stock listed, among them the famous automotive company Geely, the parent company of the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. Key industries of Taizhou are automotive, healthcare and mechanical engineering.
Taizhou offers an excellent accessibility due to its harbor and its proximity to Shanghai and Hangzhou, both cities accessible within only one or two hours respectively.
Sino-German cooperation in Taizhou Germany is Taizhou’s second most important export market and second largest import country. The bilateral trade volume accounted for 1.05 billion Euro in 2015.
Currently 18 German companies have invested in Taizhou, among them Continental, METRO, Henkel and Eberspächer. Likewise, 18 investment projects of Taizhou have been realized in Germany so far.
Apart from economic relations to Germany, Taizhou has a successful sister city cooperation with the German city of Hanau.
